David is from East London, South Africa, where we currently live. He has been involved with ministry in the local church since he was a teenager.

In 2014 God began to lay mission work on his heart, and gave him clear direction for this in 2016.

Micaela is from Leiria, Portugal. She grew up in a family that has always been involved in ministry and missions.

When she finished university in 2017 she wanted to seek new ways to serve Him.

We met on the OM South Africa training base in Pretoria in 2017 and have been married since 2019. As a couple we share a deep commitment to serve the Lord where He has called us. Right now we are living in East London, working remotely for OM in support services while also serving with the local church in youth ministry, AV media and other areas.

As workers in support services for other missionaries we provide administrative sevices to missionaries who are being sent out of South Africa as well as those coming to work in South Africa from other countries. David serves on the IT team while Micaela heads up the personnel department.

Alongside these support services roles we are also responsible for bringing more awareness to the least reached amongst local believers. This includes encouraging these believers to pray for missions, give towards missions or even go into missions themselves.

“And you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 1:8 (NIV)

Every believer has an opportunity to be involved in missions. In their own communities believers are encouraged to be involved in sharing the gospel, but often times they feel that they are disconnected from global mission work. While not everyone is able to go, there are other ways to be indirectly involved in global missions.

“The history of mission is the history of answered prayer”

Prayer is the foundation of all mission work. From praying for a missionary who is being sent, to praying for the work that they are doing and the people they are reaching out to and working with, these are all essential parts of praying for missions.

As missionaries, we always acknowledge that Christ is at the centre of everything we do and the source of our energy in ministry, but the reality is that receiving encouragement from the people around us and those who have sent us helps to keep us going, and reminds us that there are people behind us who are constantly holding us in prayer.

The largest step of faith taken by missionaries (us included) is that of handing over our finances to God. It is always incredible to see God’s provision in times of need, as well as his faithfulness in our day to day lives. This is all made possible by faithful believers who are also listening to the Lord regarding their finances, and how to sow into His kingdom.

In Philippians 1, we see the Apostle Paul express gratitude for the support he has received from the church while carrying out his ministry. In the same way, we are always grateful for those who have partnered with us up until this point in our journey.

As missionaries with OM we are responsible for raising our own financial support to continue in ministry, placing trust in the Lord to continue providing for us through gifts and regular donations from partners and supporters. We are always thankful for those who partner with us in any of the ways we’ve mentioned above, not just financially.

At present we are fortunate to have partners who regularly support us, with David also being able to work part time to subsidize some of our monthly shortfalls. However, we are aware that in order for us to continue in ministry we need to seek out new finiancial partners.
